Tattoo After-Care Guidelines
Do not apply what your friends tell you to or do not rely on the information you get from internet. Each artist has their own care ways.
What you need for aftercare
Ointment artist offered or natural coconut cream/oil
Antibacterial soap
Details:
1. Suggestion: Instead of spicy food, opt for healthy, light meals for one week. Avoid high-intensity exercise, which can slow the wounds recovery.
2. Cover tattoo area with the cling wrap for the first 24-48 hours (at comfortable pressure). During this period, carefully remove the cling wrap every 3/4 hours and wash the tattoo gently with clean water( can use a bit of body soap) Some ink may drop off during cleaning and this is normal. It is advisable to change the cling wrap every 3/4 hours for first 24 hrs.
Each time after cleaning , apply a thin layer of ointment ( eg like Vaseline ointment) and put on fresh cling wrap over the tattoo. Keep the cling wrap on when sleeping.
3. The wounds will heal gradually in 3/4 days. You may feel some itch during the healing period ; try your best not to scratch. The wounds will start to scab after 3-4 days. After about 7 days the scabs will start to fall off ; do not peel the scabs off yourself. Then you can apply a little bit of moisturizer every time after shower to keep the skin from drying out.
4. During the recovery period, especially in the first few days, it is very common to notice some colour dropping off. This will not affect the overall look of the tattoo. Some factors that may affect colour drop off are - your skin type, the size of the tattoo, the intensity of tattooing, after care, etc.
Full recovery usually takes 3-4 weeks. After about 2 months you must share us a photo of the tattoo. We want to see how the tattoo heals. A few photos taken under good lighting will do. Even if you think that tattoos have improved wonderfully, please still send a photo, because we have to check and make sure. We want the tattoo to be perfectly healed, touch ups may be required if necessary. Usually, tattoos not require touch ups. Your tattoo's recovery progress is important to us.
Take care!
